Designer's Showcase Afghan 2013

Melinda Miller of MoCrochet and Melinda Miller Designs (a Ravelry group) has given me instructions on how my followers can print out patterns from the blog instead of heading to Ravelry to download the pattern.  Please give it a shot. At the bottom of each post is a Joliprint icon.  Thank you so much Melinda.

Additionally, I'm pleased to say that Melinda has asked me to participate in the Designer’s Showcase Afghan 2013. Each month will showcase a new designer and their 12” X 12” afghan block.  So stay tuned and I hope many of you participate.  At the end of the year you will have a great afghan to stitch together.  Each month there will be one square added.

I also have been contacted by AllFreeCrochetPatterns and it's other affiliates over the past 2 years and asked to let them post some of my patterns.  Again this year, they are going to be featuring multiple patterns in various e-books.  This brings me great joy.

Happy Crocheting!

Were you a fan of the old Western Genre?

My son, Bill Proctor a.k.a Billy to me, has just started college and he did a presentation on Western Genre with a group of fellow students.  I thought it was pretty good, although I noted spelling errors LMAO. It was enjoyable seeing some of the pictures of my favorite western actors.  Hearing my son narrate the film was cool.  His wife is from Italy and everytime he pronounced a certain Italian director I had to grin because he said it with an Italian accent.  Please take a few minutes to watch his YouTube video. He complained only 4 people had seen it and says it was probably him checking on it 4 times LOL

Here is the link to the YouTube Video:  Western Genre

Tara's Christmas Granny afghan

Tara sent me this picture of a beautiful afghan she made.  I was really amazed when I saw it.  When I created the pattern I had no idea that it wouldn't be worked in the colors that I had used in the pattern.  The free pattern is the Christmas Granny so I assumed people would work it using Christmas colors.

As you can see, she made this refreshing afghan using non traditional colors. I guess I need to re-evaluate when I see a pattern in one color and try to envision it using different colors.  With that in mind, I'm going to design a square that is in my opinion uses ugly colors and we'll see what you all can do with it LOL.

Email address

I've had several people request the Free Pattern for the Peace Sign but when I try to respond to their email addresses, it kicks back and says that the email address is bad.

Today, the person it kicked back on was Michelle Robinson. So if you are Michelle Robinson, or anyone who requested the pattern but haven't received it, please email me again with an alternative email address.

Thanks!

Suggestions and ideas needed

UPDATE:

I RECEIVED ABOUT 15 REPLIES WITH SOME GREAT ADVICE. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR INPUT. I'VE FORWARDED THE EMAILS ONTO BRIDGET. RIGHT NOW SHE IS IN THE "I'M DEFEATED MODE." I'M HOPING SHE TAKES ALL OF THIS ADVICE AND GETS BUSY ACTUALLY TAKING THE INITIATIVE. SHE IS GETTING A 2ND OPINION ON THE 20TH. HOPEFULLY SHE GETS GOOD NEWS.

DONNA

Please put on your thinking caps and don't be embarrassed to pitch in with ideas, suggestions or any knowledge you might be able to give us. I know that some of you out there must have dealt with the situation I'm getting ready to ask about. Any and all information that you think would be helpful is appreciated. Some of you may have already gone through what she is getting ready to go through. Neither my friend nor I have had any dealings with social or state agencies that can help with short term care that is needed. She lives here in Northern Kentucky in the area of Ft. Thomas. I wish I could remember exactly which city it is. I do know it is in Kenton County Kentucky.

My friend Bridget has already had one knee replaced years ago when she was married. Now she is single, lives far enough away from me that I wouldn't be much help though. Anyway, she is having the other knee replaced in about a month. She is mid-40's and lives alone with her elderly dog. Her finances are horrible so when you're thinking about advice to help with this situation, please keep that in mind.

1. When she has her knee replaced, she has no one to care for her elderly dog during her hospital and rehabilitation hospital stay. She will be in the hospital about 5 days then in a rehab faclity about a week. So to be on the safe side I'd say it would be 2 weeks away from home. I can't volunteer my place because of my own 2 terriers who haven't been socialized enough to have manners and don't always play well with other dogs.

2. When she get's home, she has no one to bring her meal's for a short time.

3. She has no one to assist with transportation to and from doctor visits, grocery shopping, medication refills etc. She's had the worst luck lately. She had a very small gas efficient car and the engine blew. From the divorce she was given a very old and very large diesel truck that had been sitting for years that she's been driving lately and it has mechanical problems starting. So everytime she wants to go somewhere she has to put a large container next to the tire and stand on top of the container and do something to the wires in the truck engine to get it to start. Then she has to climb up and into the very high diesel truck. She defnately needs input on assistance in transportation to the doctor, grocery or whatever other errands that someone might need while doing rehablitation.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. You can make comments or emal me suggestions that I can pass on to her as she prepares for the surgery.

Thanks,

Dexter - The Television Show on SHOWTIME

I just heard a rumor - Michael C. Hall who plays Dexter got married. He eloped with his on-screen co-star. I did some checking and he married the woman who played his sister on the show!

I'm floored. I figured if he would marry anyone from the show it would be his on-screen girlfriend Rita.

Am I the only person who was shocked that he got married. Does anyone else watch the show?

The first snow of the year

It's SNOWING!!! First snow of the year that's actually sticking. It's actually feeling like the Holidays now.

Gas is down to $1.54 in some areas. I never thought I'd see it again. I remember on 9/11/01 when the towers were hit, the price of gas that day was $1.28. Within 4 hours of the towers being hit the price of gas rose to $1.82 that day. It went back down over the course of time but after the past year of gas hoovering around $4.00, this is a huge break.

I'm still not sure how this all works

It's been more than a month since I created my blog. I'm still not sure what I am supposed to do in a blog.

Maybe I'm supposed to list my patterns or something. I really don't know. It's like writing in a diary I guess.

Maybe I'll post a free pattern on this blog site of mine.

My very first blog

I'm not even sure what a blog is but I guess since I've started letting some people see some of my crocheted squares.... I just think that I need a place on-line to store my patterns and a link to my brand new ETSY store.

I'm gonna time capsule this... today the price of gas was $4.29 a gallon.
