?
Created by Donna Mason-Svara aka SmoothFox  ©2011  Version 1.0

I am making my blankie for a baby boy so I am using yarn colors of a beautiful lime green, turquoise, and white.  I will list the yarn I am using but feel free to select your own colors.

Michaels - Loops and Threads – “Snuggly Wuggly” Baby Sport 3 ply medium worsted 446 yds

Color A:  Silly Sprite  - 1 skein
Color B:  Cool Baby - 1 skein
Color C:  White - 2 skeins

Hook Size: I/8-5.50 mm
Size:  ?

Skill level:  Advanced beginner / Intermediate
Notions: Yarn needle

Special Stitches:
Shell: 2 dc in ch or between indicated sts
Popcorn: 5 dc in indicated sp between sts, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group, place dropped yarn loop back on hook, pull yarn through the stitch)
Reverse Popcorn: 5 dc in indicated sp between sts, DO NOT drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group, Yarn Over, pull yarn through the stitch

How to change yarn colors
Work 1st dc of the shell, yarn over, insert your hook into same space, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through two loops, drop the current color yarn and finish the stitch with the new color by working a yarn over then draw through the remaining two loops.

Please watch this video to learn how the yarn color changes are worked.

Don’t cut yarn unless told to.  Do not work over yarn tails more than 2 or 3 shells worth when you are joining new colors together when adding new shells.  Untangle yarns at the end of each row.

If you are a beginner to crochet and don’t feel comfortable doing Popcorn or Reverse Popcorn stitches, please substitute a SHELL whenever you encounter the Popcorn or Reverse Popcorn stitch from this point forward.

Please watch this video to learn how to work Popcorn stitches and Reverse Popcorn stitches.
