SmoothFox's Beginner's Bib - Free Pattern

4 ply Medium Worsted yarn
Color A: Varigated White, pink, yellow, blue and green combination
Color B: Light Blue or Light Pink

Hook Size: J 6.00 MM

Size: 7” x 7”

INSTRUCTIONS:Using color A, ch 4 and join to make a ring or use the Magic Adjustable Ring tutorial

Round 1: Ch 3, (counts as first dc here and throughout) 11 dc’s in ring; join to top of beginning ch-3. (12 dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each dc around; join to top of beginning ch-3. (24 dc)

Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, * (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st); rep from * around; join to top of beginning ch-3. (36 dc)

Round 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 2 sts, * (2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts); rep from * around. Finish off. (48 dc)

Round 5: Join color B in any st wth a sl st, ch 3, 4 dc in same st, * dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, ** 5 dc in next st. * Repeat from * to * twice and from * to ** once. Join to top of beginning ch-3. (28 dc, 16 hdc, 20 sc)

On round 6 you will not be completing the final side of the bib as this will be the neckline area. See picture above.

Round 6: Ch 3, dc in next st, 5 dc in next st, * dc in next 15 sts, 5 dc in next st; * repeat 2 times, dc in next 2 sts, leave last 11 sts unfinished. Ch 60 or as long as you want your tie for the bib. Finish off. Join color B on the opposite side in the beginning ch-3 of this round with a sl st, ch 60 or the same amount you did for the opposite side of the bib for the final tie. Finish off.

Just made this adorable bib this morning. My daughter is expecting her 6th in a few weeks. I made the bib in "Earth & Sky" for the center and the outside in "SkyBlue". The ties I did in Earth & Sky and made a sc round. My daughter loved it. Will probably do a few more in different colors. Thanks for the adorable pattern.

I made one last night in Lily Sugar n Cream In Motion varigated and Tangerine solid. Everything just came together without a snag of any kind. Love the pattern. If I crochet last 11 stitches it even makes a nice square for a blanket. Thank you so much for sharing your pattern.
