Changing yarn colors:
Work the double crochet stitch up to the last step, leaving two loops on the hook, drop old yarn color, YO with the new yarn and pull the new yarn through the two loops to complete the stitch.
Do not cut old yarn and do not work over old yarn unless told to do so

INSTRUCTIONS:
Using color A ch 4, join with slip st to first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) 2 more times, join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. (12 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)
Round 2: Slip st to corner, ch 6, dc in same corner, *ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in center st, ch 1, sk 1 st, **(dc, ch 3, dc) in next corner,* repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once; join with slip st in 3rd ch of beg ch-6. (12 dc, 4 ch-3 sps, 8 ch-1 sps)
Round 3: Ch 3, (dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc) in corner, *sk 1 st, dc in ch sp, dc in next st, dc in ch-1 sp, sk 1 st, ** (2 dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc) in next corner,* repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once; join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. Finish off. (8 tr, 28 dc, 4 ch-1)
Round 4: Using color B join with a slip st in any corner, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same corner, *sk 1 st, dc in next 7 sts, sk last st, **(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next corner,* repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once; join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. Finish off. (44 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)
Round 5: Using color A join with slip st in any corner, ch 1, 3 sc in same corner, *sc in each st across to next corner **3 sc in corner sp, * repeat from * to * 2 more times and * to ** once, join with slip st in beg sc. Finish off. (56 sc)
Round 6: Using color B join with slip st in 6th st to the right of any corner, ch 3, *dc across to corner, (3 dc in first corner sc, ch 3, sk next sc, 3 dc in last corner sc) in corner,* repeat from * to * once, **dc in next 6 sts changing to color A in last dc made See special instructions, repeat from * to ** one time, dc in last 5 sts; join with slip st in beg ch-3. DO NOT FINISH OFF IF MAKING A LARGER SQUARE THAN 6x6. ONLY Finish off if making a 6x6 square. (68 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)
Round 7: Using color A ch 3, *dc across to corner, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner,* repeat from * to * once, **dc in next 9 sts changing to color B in last dc made, repeat from * to ** one time, dc in last 8 sts; join with slip st in beg ch-3. Finish off. (84 dc, 4 ch-3 sps) STOP HERE FOR A 7X7 SQUARE.
Round 8: Turn square so that the full side of color B (pink) is on the left and using color A join with slip st in 11th st up the opposite side (counting from the bottom right corner), ch 3, *dc across to corner, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner,* repeat from * to * once more , **dc in next 11 sts changing to color B in last dc made, repeat from * to ** one time, dc in last 10 sts; join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. (100 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)
Round 9: Using color B ch 3, *dc across to corner, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner,* repeat from * to * once, **dc in next 13 sts changing to color A in last dc made, repeat from * to ** one time, dc in last 12 sts; join with slip st in beg ch-3. Finish off color B. (116 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)
Round 10: Using color A ch 3, *dc across to corner, **(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner,* repeat from * to * 3 times and from * to ** once, join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. Finish off. (132 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)
Round 11: Using color B join in any corner with a slip st, ch 3, *(dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner, dc in each st across to corner, **(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner,* repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** once, Join with a slip st in top of beg ch-3. (148 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)
Round 12: Slip st to corner, ch 3, *(dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner, dc in each st across to corner, **(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner,* repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** once, Join with a slip st in top of beg ch-3. Finish off. (148 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)
