INSTRUCTIONS:

Using color A, ch 4 and join to make a ring or use the Magic Adjustible Ring (see www.crochetpatterncentral.com under tutorials).

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, (3 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch. Finish off. (dc 12, 4 ch-2 sps)

Round 2: Join color B with a sl st in the center dc of any 3 dc grouping, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same st – new corner made, * ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, sk 1 st, ** (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in center dc; * repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** once. Join with sl st in in top of beg ch 3. Finish off. (28 dc, 4 ch-2 sps, 8 ch-1 sps)



USE ROUND 3 IF YOU WANT A TWO COLOR ROUND


Round 3: Join color C with a sl st in any corner, ch 4 (counts as dc and ch-1), * sk 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next sp, ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next sp, ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st, ch-1, * (dc, ch 3, dc, ch 1) in corner, repeat from * to * once, dc in corner (changing to color D when two loops remain on hook), ch 3, dc in corner, ch 1, repeat from * to * once, (dc, ch 3, dc, ch 1) in corner, repeat from * to * once, dc in corner, ch 3, sl st in 3rd st of beg ch-4. Finish off color C and color D. (24 dc, 20 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-3 sps)




USE ROUND 3A IF YOU WANT A SINGLE COLOR ROUND

Round 3A: Join color C with a sl st in any corner, (ch 6, dc) in corner, * ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next sp, ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next sp, ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st, ch-1, ** (dc, ch 3, dc) in corner. * Repeat from * to * twice and from * to ** once. Join in 3rd st of beg ch-6 with a sl st. Finish off color C. (24 dc, 20 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-3 sps)

Round 4: Join color E in any corner, ch-3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner, * (ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in sp) repeat 4 times, ch 1, ** (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner. * Repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** once. Join to top of beginning ch-3 with a sl st. Finish off color E. (36 dc, 24 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-2 sps)



USE ROUND 5 IF YOU WANT A SINGLE COLOR BORDER

Round 5: Join color A in any corner, ch-3, 5 dc in same corner, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 2 dc in sp, * (sk 1 st, 2 dc in sp) repeat 5 times, ch 1, sk 2 sts, ** 6 dc in corner, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 2 dc in sp. * Repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** once. Join to top of beginning ch-3 with a sl st. Finish off color A. (72 dc, 8 ch-1 sps)

USE ROUND 5A  IF YOU WANT A TWO COLORED COLOR BORDER

Hold square with Round 3 light colored yarn on the left and bottom of square:


Round 5A: Join color A in the top right corner with a sl st, ch-3, 2 dc in same corner, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 2 dc in sp, * (sk 1 st, 2 dc in sp) repeat 5 times, ch 1, sk 2 sts, ** 6 dc in corner, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 2 dc in sp. * repeat from * to ** once, 3 dc’s in corner changing to color F when 2 loops remain on hook, 3 dc in same corner, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 2 dc in next sp, (sk 1 st, 2 dc in sp) repeat 5 times, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 6 dc in corner, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 2 dc in next sp, (sk 1 st, 2 dc in sp) repeat 5 times, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 3 dc in corner. Join to top of beginning ch-3 with a sl st. Finish off color A and color F. (72 dc, 8 ch-1 sps)
