SmoothFox’s Little Flower Square 6”x6” - Free Pattern

Bernat Baby Sport 3 ply medium worsted
Color A: Mint
Color B: Lilac
Color C: White

Hook Size: G - 6 - 4.25 MM
Skill level: Advanced Beginner
Size: 6” x 6”
Yarn Needle

Special Stitches:
Beginning Cluster (Beg CL)
Ch 2, *YO, insert hook in st indicated, YO and pull up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * once more, YO and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Cluster (CL)
* YO, insert hook in st indicated, YO and pull up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * 2 times more, YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

Adjustable ring
Make a slip knot with your yarn leaving 3" long tail, leaving center loop open. Insert hook in top loop. Yarn over and draw up loop. This is your Chain 1. (Do not count this as your first st). Crochet over center loop and the yarn tail for the designated # of stitches in the first round. When finished, pull the tail to close the ring.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Round 1: Using color A, ch 6 counts as treble crochet plus ch-1 plus a chain to crochet all stitches in this round into, *tr in first ch, ch 1, repeat from * 11 total times, join with slip st in 5th ch of beg ch-6 or use the Adjustable Ring Method above. Finish off. (12 tr, 12 ch-1 sps)

Round 2: Join color B in any st with a slip st, Beg CL, ch 2, * CL in next st, ch 2, repeat from * around, join with slip st in top of beg cluster. Finish off. (12 clusters, 12 ch-2 sps)


Round 3: Join color C in any ch-2 sp with a slip st, ch 8, counts as dc plus ch-5, dc in same sp, *(dc in top of next petal, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp) 2 total times, dc in top of next petal ** (dc, ch 5, dc) in next ch-2 sp,* repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** 1 time, join with slip st in 3rd ch of beg ch-8. (44 dc. 4 ch-5 sps)

Round 4: Slip st to ch-5 cormer sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ch-5 sp corner made, *(ch 3, sk 2 sts, sc in next st) 3 total times, ch 3, sk 2 sts, **(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner,* repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** 1 time, join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. Finish off. (24 dc, 12 sc, 20 ch-3 sps)


Round 5: Join color A with slip st any ch-3 corner sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-3 sp, dc in next 3 sts, (3 dc in ch-3 sp) 4 total times, dc in next 3 sts, **(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner * repeat from * to * 2 times and from * to ** 1 time, join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. Finish off. (96 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Yeah! When I saw the picture of a testers square in this pattern I immediately fell in love! (It's the one that has pink petals and looks like tiny mint green leaves.) I'm saving this to my computer now and can't wait to try it out! It would make a gorgeous little blanket for a baby girl!
