INSTRUCTIONS:

Round 1: Using color A, ch 4, 10 dc in first ch, join with slip st to 4th ch of beg ch-4. (11 dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join with slip st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (22 dc)

Round 3: *Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, sk next st, slip st in next st, repeat from * 10 times, 3 dc, join with slip st in 1st ch of beg ch-3. (33 dc)

Round 4: *Ch 6, sk 3 dc, slip st in slip st, repeat from * around. (11 ch-6 sps)

Round 5: Ch 5 (counts as dc plus ch-2), *dc in center of next ch sp, ch 2, dc in slip st, ch 2, repeat from * around, join with slip st to 3rd ch of beg ch-5. (22 dc, 22 ch-2 sps)

Round 6: Ch 3, 3 dc in next ch sp, *dc in next st, 3 dc in next ch sp, repeat from * around, join with slip st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (88 dc)

Round 7: Ch 6 (counts as dc plus ch-3), *(sk 2 sts, sc in next st, ch 3) 6 total times, sk 2 sts, dc in next st, ** ch 5, dc in next st, ch 3* repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once, join with ch 1 and dc in 3rd ch of beg ch-6. (8 dc, 28 ch-3 sps, 4 ch-5 sps)

Round 8: Ch 2, 2 hdc in this same corner, *3 hdc in each of the next two ch-3 sps, 3 sc in each of the next 3 ch-3 sps, 3 hdc in each of the next two ch-3 sps, **(3 hdc, ch 3, 3 hdc) in ch-5 sp, * repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once, 3 hdc in first corner, join with ch 1 and hdc in beg ch-2. (72 hdc, 36 sc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Round 9: Ch 4 (counts as dc plus ch-1), – insert stitch marker in 3rd ch of beg ch-4, sk 1 st, dc in next st, *(ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st) repeat across to last st, ** ch 1, sk last st (dc, ch 3, dc) in corner sp, * repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once, sk last st, join with ch 1, dc in 1st ch of beg ch-4, ch 1 and hdc in marked ch of beg ch-4. (60 dc, 56 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-3 sps)

Round 10: Ch 3, 2 dc in same corner sp, *(2 dc in each ch-1 sp) across to corner, **(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner sp, * repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once, 3 dc in first corner, join with ch 1 and hdc in top of beg ch-3. (136 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Round 11: Ch 3, 2 dc, in same sp, *(ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next 2 sts) repeat across to last st, sk last st, ch 1, **(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner sp,* repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once, 3 dc in first corner, join with dc in top of beg ch-3. (112 dc, 48 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-3 sps)

Round 12: Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp, *3 dc in each ch-1 sp across to corner, **(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner sp,* repeat from * to * 2 more times and from * to ** once, join with slip st in top of beg ch-3. Finish off. (168 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

i love this pattern on round 12 as i type. i had a question.. how many of these squares make a throw blanket? or lapghan?

You can make it as large as you like. Four across by five long? It's entirely up to you. It depends on what it will be used for. There is a link that tells you the normal sizes of things. Let me post it here.
